William and Emma Spade William C. and Emma Skaggs Spade are pictured here sometime before William's death in 1925. Emma Spade, born in 1851, died in 1951 at the age of 100. They were the parents of Rosa Belle Spade Gwinn. Leona Gwinn Brown remembers her Great-Grandmother Emma quite well. Lena Gwinn once said that she "sat down when her husband died," and few people remember her in a standing position for the last quarter-century that she lived. William Spade was drafted into the Confederate army and was captured in 1864, spending the rest of the war in a Union prison camp. |
